Disconnect Utility Services

Planning to move or no longer need utility services? Follow the steps below to request a disconnection of your service with the City of North Miami.

Submission Schedule

  • Disconnection requests are accepted Monday through Friday, during business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Except Holidays.
  • Requests received after 12:00 PM (ET) will be processed on the next business day. 

How to Submit Your Request 

Before submitting your request, please confirm that your utility is serviced by the City of North Miami. 

What you’ll need to submit your request online

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, or passport)
  • A completed Utility Services Disconnection Request Form (fillable and submitted electronically through the portal) 

What Happens Next 

  1. Verification
    Your submission will be reviewed to confirm account information.
    Incomplete forms will be declined, and you will receive an email notification with instructions to correct and resubmit. 
  2. Final Meter Reading
    A final meter reading is needed to finalize the closing of the account. Staff will contact you, if necessary.
  3. Final Bill
    A final bill will be mailed to the forwarding address you provide, reflecting charges through the disconnection date. 
  4. Deposit Refund
    • Your security deposit will be applied to the final bill.
    • If any credit remains, a refund check will be mailed out.
    Important: The U.S. Postal Service may not forward your final bill or refund. Please ensure your forwarding address is accurate and up to date with us. 
  5. Account Closure
    Once the final bill is processed, your account will be officially closed in the Utility Billing system. 
  6. Collections
    Unpaid final balances may be referred to the Collections Team for further action.
