North Miami, FL — FEBRUARY 4, 2020 - The City of North Miami’s Mayor and Council, announces the appointment of Arthur H. Sorey, III, as Interim City Manager, effective immediately.
For 16 years, Sorey has served the City of North Miami in various roles. Most recently, he served as North Miami’s Deputy City Manager, beginning in 2015. Sorey was the City of North Miami’s Budget Director from 2012 to 2015. During his tenure with the City of North Miami, Sorey has also held the positions of Budget Administrator and Budget Analyst. For a six month period, ending in 2016, he previously served as North Miami’s Interim City Manager. Prior to joining the City of North Miami, Sorey, also spent time with the American Cancer Society and the City of Hallandale.
Sorey’s career specialties include fiscal management and strategic planning, along with program and process implementation.
“I’ve grown up here in North Miami. This City is my home,” said Sorey. “Choosing a career in public service has proven to be one of the best decisions of my life. It is truly fulfilling to impact the actions that create the high quality of life that our residents have grown to love and expect here. North Miami’s future grows brighter every day. Sorey is a graduate of North Miami Senior High School. In 1997, he earned a Bachelor of Public Administration, before completing his Master of Public Administration in 2000. He earned both degrees at Florida International University. In 2016, Sorey attended the Harvard University Kennedy School, where he completed an Executive Education Certificate focused on Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
Sorey will perform Interim City Manager duties until the North Miami Mayor and Council appoints a full-time permanent City Manager.
