North Miami Marks One-Month Countdown to Centennial Celebration With “Carnivals Around the World”

Centennial Posted on January 05, 2026

NORTH MIAMI, FL (January 5, 2026)

Today marks one month until the City of North Miami officially turns 100 years old, and the City is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the historic milestone with Carnivals Around the World, the City’s official Centennial birthday celebration.

The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m., centered at MOCA Plaza, 770 NE 125 Street, North Miami, FL 33161, and extending to NE Ninth Avenue in the heart of downtown North Miami.

Carnivals Around the World is a free, family-friendly experience that will transform downtown into a vibrant international festival. Attendees can enjoy carnival-style games, live music, food trucks, colorful performers, and interactive activities inspired by the diverse cultures that shape North Miami. The celebration highlights the City’s rich heritage while honoring the people, traditions, and progress that have defined North Miami over the past century.

“As we mark one month until North Miami turns 100, we’re honoring both where we’ve been and where we’re going,” said Vice Mayor Kassandra Timothe, MPA. “This Centennial celebration brings our community together in a way that reflects our shared history, cultural richness, and continued progress.”

To accommodate event setup and operations, road closures will begin at noon on the day of the event along NE 125th street from NE Seventh to NE Ninth avenues. Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted signage, and use alternate routes when traveling through the area.

Carnivals Around the World is part of the City of North Miami’s year-long Centennial Celebration, commemorating 100 years since the City’s incorporation on Feb. 5, 1926.
