Celebrate Black History Month in North Miami with a
Series of Events Recognizing African American Heritage
February 15, 2023
In embracing the 2023 national theme of Black Resistance for Black History Month, the City of North Miami is celebrating African American contributions with a series of events throughout February. The city is honoring cultural trailblazers of the past, while recognizing their impact on the present. Thus, its series of events reflect how African Americans fought repression from America’s earliest days and how they advanced to have such a great influence on America’s history even today. From Black children’s book authors at North Miami Public Library to legendary entertainers at NoMi Music Festival, the City of North Miami is offering a plethora of events for the entire family.
The 7th Annual NoMi Music Festival is Saturday, February. 25, 2023, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. at Cagni Park, 13498 NE 8 Avenue, North Miami, FL 33161. Hosted by Chubb Rock, it will feature live performances by En Vogue, Stephanie Mills, Tony! Toni! Tone! Atlantic Starr, Miki Howard, and B Howard. Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased at www.nomifest.com. Proceeds from ticket sales support North Miami Utility Emergency Fund which benefits North Miami residents in financial distress.
NoMi Fest has traditionally been held in conjunction with an evening honoring South Florida's most incredible inspirations. An evening of joy, celebration, and applause will embody an Evening of Honors. Join the City of North Miami on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Joe Celestin Community Center, 1525 NW 135 St, North Miami, FL 33167, beginning 7:00 p.m., to recognize those who have made an impact both locally and globally during this Evening of Honors event.
