The Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida (HANA) honors the City of North Miami with the Community Action Award

North Miami, FL – March 17, 2021

The City of North Miami will receive the Community Action Award by the Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida, Inc (HANA) during its 37th Annual Scholarship Fundraising and Awards Gala. The gala will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at The Caleb Residence, located at 4204 Finishline Terrace, Davie, FL 33330.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, HANA has recognized distinguished individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond to make sure people continue to pursue a valuable nursing education in their communities. For this reason, the HANA Board of Directors has chosen the City of North Miami as one of the “unsung heroes” of the pandemic. This challenging health crisis has proven the immeasurable importance of our nurses, and it reaffirms the importance of developing and educating the next generation of healthcare workers.

“I’m incredibly honored that the City of North Miami has been selected as a recipient of this award. The pandemic has shed a light on our healthcare heroes so it’s important to nurture the dreams of residents who have an innate love for medicine and the well-being of others” says North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime.

This year’s gala theme is “HANA: Leading, Excelling, and Innovating beyond limits.” HANA is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that offers excellent education and service to local communities. Each year, HANA hosts an Annual Scholarship and Awards Gala to raise funds for Haitian American Nursing students from Florida and Haiti.

This event will be held in a hybrid format with a small live audience in an outdoor setting (where all CDC recommendations will be observed) and a larger virtual audience via Zoom. For more information on the event, visit https://www.hanaofflorida.org
