Councilwoman Carol Keys, Esq., Sponsors PSA Promoting Environmental Conservation within the North Miami Community
August 12, 2020
The City of North Miami is pleased to announce the launch of its new Resilient NoMi public outreach initiative with the release of a video PSA highlighting the City’s coastal habitat and natural resources.
Rather than simply preparing for specific natural disasters or occurrences, the City of North Miami’s Resilient NoMi initiative aims to identify and educate the public about ways to protect and preserve the City’s natural resources. Sponsored by North Miami’s District 2 Councilwoman, Carol Keys, Esq., and produced in collaboration with the City’s Community Planning and Development Department’s (CP&D) Sustainability Division, this educational video showcases North Miami’s waterfronts, pristine landscapes, parks, wildlife, flora and fauna. Its message emphasizes the importance of making environmentally fueled changes today to preserve the diverse, yet fragile local habitats and ecosystems for the future.
"I am very excited to present this project to the public,” said Councilwoman Keys. “Through the partnership of CP&D, VACO Studios and myself, we were able to capture and highlight the natural environmental gems of North Miami. It is my belief that continued education and awareness of our City’s natural resources will inspire us all to take responsible action toward a more resilient future."
The professionally produced PSA concludes with a call to action, encouraging environmental accountability and strategies for doing so, as listed in the City of North Miami’s Citizens’ Guide to Sustainability and Resiliency. The resiliency guide and the full video are available at www.northmiamifl.gov/sustainability.
