Mayor Alix Desulme Ed.D. Selected to Attend Mayors' Institute on City Design Special Session in New York City

Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D. of North Miami has been chosen to participate in the prestigious Mayors' Institute on City Design (MICD) Special Session taking place in New York City from May 8-10, 2024. This exclusive session, conducted in partnership with New York University and hosted by Mayor Eric Adams, will bring together mayors and design experts to address pressing urban challenges through the lens of city design and development.
Founded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors, the Mayors' Institute on City Design is renowned for empowering city leaders to transform communities through innovative urban design strategies. Mayor Desulme's selection underscores his commitment to advancing equitable, safe, and thriving urban environments in North Miami.
During the MICD Special Session, Mayor Desulme will engage in collaborative working sessions with fellow mayors and experts to explore actionable ideas tailored to North Miami's specific development challenges. The session will commence with a keynote address from Mayor Eric Adams, followed by intensive discussions and case study development.
The list of mayors in attendance includes Mayor Eric Adams (Host) from New York City, NY; Mayor Layne Wilkerson from Frankfort, KY; Mayor Keith Gaskin from Columbus, MS; Mayor Kerry Thomson from Bloomington, IN; Mayor Kahlil Seren from Cleveland Heights, OH; and Mayor April Graves from Brooklyn Center, MN."I am honored to represent North Miami at the Mayors' Institute on City Design Special Session," said Mayor Desulme. "This opportunity will allow us to explore innovative solutions that prioritize equity and community well-being in our city."
Participation in the MICD session is limited to fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Media and city staff will not be present during the event to encourage open and candid discussions among participants.
