During the North Miami City Council meeting on January 10, 2023, North Miami City Council appointed long-time educator Pierre Frantz Charles to serve as the next council representative for District 4. He will be sworn into office on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the induction ceremony of North Miami Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D. The ceremony will take place at North Miami Senior High School Auditorium, 13110 NE 8 Avenue, North Miami, FL 33161, beginning 6:00 PM.

“We are pleased with the District 4 appointment of Pierre Frantz Charles,” North Miami Mayor Desulme said. “It was an overwhelming show of talent among the interested candidates, and most of them could have served as our next councilperson, but I welcome our new Councilman Pierre Frantz Charles to represent D4.”

Since 2009, Pierre Frantz Charles has served as a math teacher at Miami Central Senior High School and has taught at Miami-Dade College, Wolfson Campus, as an adjunct professor since 2014. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education as well as an associate arts degree. He is also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; member of North Miami CRA Advisory Board; secretary of North Miami Citizens Investigative Board (CIB); president of the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade; and chairman of the Veronique Destine Foundation, Inc.

“My involvement in the North Miami community has given me valuable experience and an understanding of the city’s needs and challenges, especially in District 4,” Pierre Frantz Charles wrote in his statement of candidacy. “Together, we must work to make North Miami neighborhoods safer, healthier, and more prosperous by focusing on improving our schools, parks, providing jobs and job training opportunities, and increasing after-school activities and developing preventive programs for our at-risk youth.”
