The City of North Miami Council has re-appointed North Miami District 4 Councilman Alix Desulme, Ed. D. as Vice Mayor.
Vice Mayor Desulme was first appointed the position in 2016, making him the youngest Councilman to ever hold the title. As Vice Mayor, he will continue to work alongside Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime and the City Council to lead North Miami into the New Year.
“My goal is to continue to keep North Miami unified and safe”, said Desulme. “I want to continue to promote trust and open dialogue with all North Miami residents and make myself available to hear your thoughts and concerns so that together we can cultivate a partnership between all members of the community.”
The Vice Mayor went on to thank his colleagues for entrusting him once again. He stated, “I thank my colleagues on the dais for once again choosing me to serve as Vice Mayor of this great City.”

About Vice Mayor Alix Desulme
In a 2009 city-wide election, Councilman Desulme made history by becoming the first African American to be elected City Clerk of North Miami. On June 2, 2015, Desulme was elected to represent District 4 residents in the North Miami City Council. The following year he became the youngest Councilman to serve as Vice Mayor for the City of North Miami, Florida. Vice Mayor Desulme’s other works include his title as Chairman of the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON). NHAEON is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of Haitian Americans in the United States through initiatives of civic engagement, social justice, equality, and equity.
