North Miami Police Department and AngelSense Recognize Autism Awareness Month with Guardian Program Launch
North Miami, FL – April 8, 2025
The North Miami Police Department (NMPD), in collaboration with
AngelSense, is proud to announce the launch of the Guardian Program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed atenhancing the safety and well-being of individuals with autism, Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other cognitive
disabilities, by utilizing advanced tracking technology.
The NMPD Guardian Program initiative will kick-off on April 8, 2025. Through this free voluntary program,
NMPD will distribute wearable GPS-enabled devices, powered by AngelSense. The device allows caregivers totrack the whereabouts of vulnerable loved ones in real-time, when they are discovered missing and are at risk. The
device also alerts caregivers when wearers leave designated safe zones. NMPD will have access to the device’stracking data, ensuring a rapid and coordinated response to safely locate and reunite the missing person with their
loved ones.

vulnerable community members,” said Chief Cherise G. Gause, of the North Miami Police Department. “I’mvery excited to embark on this journey with our partners from AngelSense, that combines community policing
resources and technology to protect those who need it most. We want to ensure that our community knows everyneighbor is valued, every life is protected, and every reunion is a celebration of love and safety."

caregivers, while giving law enforcement the resources they need to act quickly in critical situations."
The Guardian Program is available to all North Miami residents who have a loved one with autism, Alzheimer’s
