Workforce Training Programs

Total Program Funding:

$100,000 toward training programs. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Healthcare Programs:

The City of North Miami, in partnership with Florida International University is pleased to offer scholarships for two healthcare related courses. General Healthcare Assistant and Medical Terminology & Office Procedures. A certificate of participation and micro-credential will be provided at completion. CareerSource South Florida will assist with job placement. These courses will be taught in English. 

General Healthcare Assistant

This online program will expose participants to all aspects of patient care through lectures and demonstrations. At the end of the program, participants will be able to recognize the importance of the role of the Nurse's Assistant in improving the quality of life of patients, as providers of social and emotional support.

Days/Times: Monday - Friday 6 pm - 9 pm

Medical Terminology & Office Procedures

This online program will provide participants with a solid foundation in medical language and terminology used by healthcare professionals 

Program dates: March 1 - April 1, 2021
Days/Times: Monday - Friday 6 pm - 9 pm

Eligibility Requirements

For the abovementioned programs, all interested persons must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Age 18 and older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • North Miami resident
  • Reliable computer and internet access 

Submission of an application shall constitute acknowledgement and acceptance of all terms and conditions contained in the guidelines and the application. Acceptance of this application does not constitute a contract and does not obligate the City to award funds. 

Payments will be made directly to the local institution to cover program costs.
