CRA Emergency Renter’s Relief Program

Budget: $1 Million

The City of North Miami’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board is taking measures to offer rent payment support to residents through the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA). The intent of this program is to provide rental assistance for up to two months. This program will only be available for renters, residing within the North Miami CRA boundary, who have lost employment, are experiencing reduced income, and have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This program is being funded with a $1 million budget.

CRA Emergency Relief to Jumpstart Businesses Grant

Budget $1.2 Million

The North Miami CRA originally established the Emergency Relief to Re-Open Business Grant Program, which offers grant amounts up to $5,000 per business. The City of North Miami CRA Board allocated an additional $600,000 to the Emergency Relief to Re-open Business Grant Program for a total allocation of $1.2 million.

Emergency Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (ETBRA) Program

Budget: $157,427
Additional funding sources will be identified to provide more assistance. 

The City of North Miami will assist individuals with a one-time payment up to $1,000 for households occupying rental units outside of the NMCRA boundaries that have suffered loss of income or reduced wages directly connected to COVID-19 pandemic. The City used a portion of the $452,692 in emergency funding from HUD to provide much needed relief to our residents to cover their past due rent. 

The deadline to apply is Friday, June 12, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Completed applications and copies of required documents will be accepted at:

Emergency Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (ETBRA) Program Application

Water Utility Bill Assistance

Budget $250,000

The City of North Miami’s Utility Billing Division is offering relief to residents in regards to the water component of their utility bill. The Mayor and City Council has authorized the appropriation of $250,000 to the North Miami Low Income Home Utility Bills Assistance Foundation, Inc. in order to help low-income or Coronavirus/COVID-19 affected resident customers to pay their City water bills. 

North Miami residents may pick up a printed copy of the application and drop off their completed application Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the following locations:

    (Completed Applications along with supporting documents e.g. water bill and proof of hardship can be mailed to this address)

NoMi Food Pantry 

The City of North Miami cares for its residents and strives to support those in need of a helping hand. To aide households experiencing food disparity, the NoMi Food Pantry partners with several outreach organizations in an effort to prevent hunger in the North Miami community through partnerships, donations and volunteerism.

Appointments are required to apply for services through the NoMi Food Pantry. To schedule an appointment, call 305-953-3053. Proof of North Miami residency is required.
