WEATHER ALERT

The North Miami Division of Emergency Management continues to monitor Tropical Storm Nicole. This storm is currently located in the Caribbean and is moving WSW at 13 MPH with sustained winds of 70 MPH. Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to make landfall around the Palm Beach area as a Category 1 hurricane either late tonight or early Thursday morning.
  • Miami-Dade County is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch. 
  • Sandbags are being distributed to North Miami residents today from 9 AM to 12 PM. 
  • Residents are advised to not trim trees at this time and make piles in front of their homes. 
  • Tropical Storm Force wind gusts are expected, so residents should bring in any light lawn furniture or items that can be blown around. 
  • Any pets that normally reside outdoors, should be brought indoors during a tropical storm. 
  • All Miami-Dade Schools are closed today due to Tropical Storm Nicole. We are waiting on a decision on schools for Thursday. 
  • After periods of heavy rainfall, drivers should not drive through standing water, especially if they are in an unfamiliar area, and are not sure how deep the water is. 
  • Children should not be allowed to play in standing water, as it may contain contaminants.

Park Program and Facility Closures 

North Miami parks, recreation facilities, and programs are closed on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, due to the inclement weather. 

North Miami Parks and Recreation Department will resume its normal operations on Thursday, November 10, 2022, weather permitting.

We are watching the storm, and preparing to respond if necessary. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
