North Miami, FL – May 23, 2012 – As part of North Miami’s closing festivities for Haitian Heritage Month, Mayor Andre D. Pierre, Esq. will honor Mayor Joseph M. Champagne, Jr., Esq. of the Borough of South Toms River, New Jersey at a special presentation tomorrow, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. The presentation will be held in the Council Chambers of North Miami City Hall, 776 NE 125 Street. Mayor Pierre will present him with a key to the City, as well as pay tribute to his work in municipal government.

Mr. Champagne was elected Councilman in 2008, then Mayor on November 2, 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia University and a Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School. Mr. Champagne practices law in New Jersey, with a focus on immigration, criminal and civil law. He serves on several committees, including Alternative Dispute Resolution and Minority Concerns. He is a board member of Ocean Community Economic Action Now (O.C.E.A.N., Inc.), the Global Syndicate, the Haitian-American Leadership Council, and the National Haitian-American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON.)
