North Miami to Honor the Life and Legacy of an Extraordinary Man this Thursday

The City of North Miami will pay tribute to the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the MOCA Plaza located at 770 NE 125 ST.  Special guest emcee, Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughn will host the event, which will feature song, dance and spoken word tributes to an extraordinary leader who brought about the end of apartheid and unified a nation by standing for dignity, liberty and most of all, forgiveness.

Nelson Mandela was a revolutionary politician and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He inspired people the world over with his determination to see equality in his homeland and his willingness to forgive after being jailed for 27 years. Nelson Mandela once said “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
