North Miami, FL – 10/9/2013

Celebrate Puerto Rican History in North Miami this Friday, 6 – 9 p.m.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this Friday evening (October 11, 2012) at North Miami’s Gran Fiesta Block Party from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.  The festivities will be held on NE 133 Street at NE 9 AVE. There will be fun for the entire family, as the block party features the sights, sounds and sabor (taste) of Puerto Rico! This year North Miami has chosen to feature Puerto Rico based on the history of Puerto Ricans being one of the first Latino groups to settle in the North Miami area.

The energetic band, Plena Es, will fill the night air with their unique Afro-Caribbean beat. Participate in a domino tournament or dance the night away! Children will enjoy art activities by MOCA. Food will be available for purchase from El Kiosko Latin Café, which specializes in Puerto Rican, Cuban and Dominican cuisine. This event is also made possible by Borinquen Medical Centers, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Mr. Trophy and the Puerto Rican Chamber of South Florida.
