North Miami, FL – 9/4/2013

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the North Miami Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that our students have the most important school supply of all – a free library card.

Resources at the North Miami Public Library are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement. The library offers free access to internet on its 25 public access computers and also free Wi-Fi for students using their tablets or laptops. Professional staff is available to provide research and readers' advisory assistance during all hours of operation. The library also offers an array of cultural programs and events such as Science Camp, Dia Family Book Club, story hours, puppet shows, book sales and much more. Students can use their library cards from home, too. Our library offers access to important educational resources like the Florida Electronic Library, online homework help and the library's own catalogue.

"Our library provides all types of students with the tools they need to succeed,” says Library Manager Lucia Gonzalez. “We provide students with exciting and engaging programs that make learning fun and resources that they can access from the library or from home – all with a free library card. It is for these reasons that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
