FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT HELPS HAITIAN FAMILIES GET BACK ON THEIR FEET

North Miami, FL – 6/8/2012

Saturday's Event to Celebrate Fathers and Collect Donations of Shoes for Haitian Families

North Miami, June 8, 2012– A very special donation drive is being held in the heart of the City of North Miami this Saturday, June 9th to benefit families in need of assistance in Haiti. Shoes of all sizes, new or gently worn, will be collected at Griffing Park, 12220 Griffing Boulevard in North Miami from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. North Miami Mayor Andre D. Pierre, Esq., is co-hosting the donation drive along with Purforce Foundation, IPhit and the Youth Power Movement.

Organizers are accepting all kinds of shoes in good condition at Saturday's event. Every donation will be delivered to those in need by Purforce Foundation, whose mission is to provide help to our fellow human beings whenever and where ever. The shoes will be distributed to people who are living in extreme poverty in tents that are recovering from the earthquake. The group expects to collect 5,000 shoes at the four-hour event, which will also feature outdoor free beverages, games, arts and crafts, music and more. The event also encourages families to celebrate fathers, by spending a day in the park with that special dad or male role model in your family.

Shoes provide protection and help prevent the spread of diseases. For those who have experienced such a profound loss, everything in a natural disaster, a pair of shoes is a literal first step toward rebuilding a new life. Shoes collected at the shoe drive are being sent to earthquake victims in Haiti.
