NORTH MIAMI’S MAYOR AND COUNCIL CONCLUDE SUCCESSFUL CITYWIDE HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF EFFORT

North Miami, FL – 9/19/2019

After nearly four weeks of receiving donated relief items in support of the Bahamian victims of Hurricane Dorian, the City of North Miami has closed its collection period with about two dozen tightly packed pallets ready for shipping.

City of North Miami residents, staff and supporters from surrounding areas donated personal hygiene products, non-perishable food, water, blankets, flashlights, batteries, and various other items at four conveniently located sites, including North Miami City Hall, the North Miami Public Library, the Joe Celestin Center, the North Miami Jaycees and Knights of Columbus, Marian Council 3757. North Miami staff received, sorted and packed donated goods for delivery.

North Miami Mayor, Philippe Bien-Aime, along with Vice Mayor Carol Keys, Esq.; Councilman Scott Galvin, District 1; Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin, District 3; and Councilman Alix Desulme, Ed.D., District 4, joined forces in this initiative. “Our community’s support of this very necessary and outreach effort is overwhelming,” said Bien-Aime. “We’ve received far more supplies than expected. North Miami continues to prove itself as a community of caring people, who have taken ownership of our responsibility to be good neighbors to our Bahamian brothers and sisters in need.”

Today, City staff will deliver the donations to Miami Dade County’s official collection site.
