NORTH MIAMI AND MDCPS TO BREAK GROUND AT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CAGNI PARK NORTH RECREATIONAL FACILITY

North Miami, FL – 5/6/2019

Through a partnership between the City of North Miami and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, an official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cagni Park North Recreational Facility will take place Tuesday, May 7, at 3 p.m.  The program will include remarks by North Miami Mayor Smith Joseph, D.O., Pharm.D., Vice Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime, City Manager Larry M. Spring, Jr., CPA, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Board Member, Dr. Steve Gallon, III, and Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho.

Through an agreement, approximately 14 acres of land were donated by the City of North Miami to Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Originally, the land housed a community center, a community pool, the North Miami’s Veterans Monument which relocated to Griffing Park and a National Guard Armory.  After the exchange, the land was repurposed for new school facilities. The new facility will include an Olympic-size swimming pool, multipurpose field, playground, park shelters and courts for sporting programs, among other amenities. The park will be enjoyed by the community, as well as students from area schools.
