North Miami, FL – 6/6/2018

Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m., at the Sunkist Grove Community Center, North Miami Councilman Alix Desulme will host a lottery drawing for 18 qualified households within North Miami’s 4th District to receive home rehabilitation grants of up to $20,000.

Throughout 2017, Desulme hosted several quarterly community workshops focused on District 4 resources, residents and businesses. Residents attending each workshop were given the opportunity to learn about the North Miami Housing Improvement Program Grant qualifications. District 4 applications were distributed in March 2018.  In total, approximately 50 District 4 households submitted grant applications. Twenty-two applicants were qualified to enter the drawing. Thursday, 18 applicants will be randomly selected to receive home rehabilitation services such as roof repairs, installation of hurricane impact windows, replacement of exterior doors, driveway improvements, replacement of deteriorated fascia soffits and gutters, exterior painting and minor landscape improvements.

This lottery is spearheaded by the North Miami Community Planning and Development Department (CP&D). CP&D screens applicant qualifications based on the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s guidelines. This grant is a component of Desulme’s District 4 Home Beautification & Ownership Program (HBO). HBO is designed to improve the community through physical and economic investments with the intent of rehabilitating the exterior façades of homes.   For more information, contact the CP&D Office at 305-895-9824.
