NORTH MIAMI TRADITION CONTINUES AT 44TH ANNUAL WINTERNATIONAL THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE

North Miami, FL – 11/15/2018

Snow flurries are in the forecast as the City of North Miami presents its 44th Annual Winternational Thanksgiving Day Parade, themed, “NoMi Winter Wonderland,” at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 22.

This year’s mainstage hosts include local radio veteran, Shelby Rushin and media personality, Kalyn James. DJ Hercules and DJ Lumoney will keep crowds entertained at two additional parade stops.

The Winternational Thanksgiving Day Parade is a beloved North Miami holiday tradition, spanning more than four decades. It is South Florida’s only Thanksgiving Day parade. Guests will enjoy a free, fun-filled morning of spectacular bands, cultural and folkloric performances, entertaining dance groups, colorful floats, live music and family-friendly fun for all ages.   Also, back by popular demand is the Tropical Nights of North Miami float, featuring a live rolling concert performance by popular Haitian Kompa band, Vayb.

The parade route travels eastbound, along NE 125th Street, from 6th Avenue to 12th Avenue. The parade’s mainstage will be located at North Miami City Hall, 776 NE 125th Street. Additional performance stops are available at NE 6th and NE 8th avenues.

Motorists will be impacted. No parking zones will be marked by Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. Vehicles must be removed by 6 a.m. Thursday. Parade guests may park in pre-approved municipal lots and curbside parking spaces throughout North Miami’s Downtown area.  Roads will begin closing to motorists at 7 a.m. on parade day. Eastbound traffic on NE 125th Street from West Dixie Highway to NE 12th Court will be detoured to NE 123rd Street. Westbound traffic on NE 125th Street from NE 14th Avenue to Griffing Boulevard, will be detoured to NE 131st Street. Normal traffic flow is expected to resume on NE 125th Street by 1 p.m.    The parade can also be enjoyed from home through the City of North Miami’s LiveStream service, available at livestream.com/cityofnorthmiami.

Members of the media interested in covering the parade should email the City of North Miami Public Information team for credentials by 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21.
