1,500 YOUTH EXPRECTED TO EXPLORE STEM CAREERS IN NORTH MIAMI

North Miami Mayor, Dr. Smith Joseph, and the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP Program, will host a joint press conference Thursday to kick-off the 7th Wertheim Conference. This is the first time the conference will take place in North Miami. 

The Wertheim Conference is a biennial experience offering students first-hand exposure to STEM careers. Themed “Art Sci,” students, grades K-12, will experience hands-on and interactive health demonstrations, coding seminars, virtual reality sessions, career presentations and more. Mayor Joseph, a medical doctor by profession, will highlight the importance of exploring career opportunities in every field, with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).  

Admission is free. Registration is available online via Eventbrite. The conference will take place at North Miami’s newly renovated MOCA Plaza, located at 770 NE 125 Street, from 5 – 8 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Public Information Office at 305-895-9888.
