Today, North Miami Mayor, Dr. Smith Joseph hosted his 14th Quarterly Business Luncheons. Conceptualized in 2015, the Mayor’s Quarterly Business Luncheon aims to connect small businesses with the resources they need to thrive in North Miami.

The theme of today’s luncheon was Igniting Redevelopment: Community Redevelopment Agencies, and a Spark for Public-Private Partnerships. “We have laid incredible groundwork through the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency, and now we are ready to take it to the next level through public-private partnerships. Today’s luncheon is an opportunity to understand best practices from experts in the field,” explained Dr. Joseph.

Mark S. Blanchard, Vice President of AECOM and Kim Briesemeister, Principal at Redevelopment Management Associates discussed merits and benefits of public-private partnerships and community redevelopment agencies. Jeremy Earle, Ph.D., AICP, Halladale Beach Assistant Manager, addressed the group as the keynote speaker and presented case studies of successful CRA public-private partnership projects. Dr. Earle is an expert in the field of community redevelopment, sustainability, and CRAs. He commended Mayor Joseph for his leadership, initiatives and the positive direction of the “City on the Move.” He urged attendees to be bold and progressive in their vision and plans for building sustainable communities.

The event took place at the Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Center Ballroom, with more than 120 attendees. In a continued effort to engage and educate local North Miami business professionals and entrepreneurs, North Miami Mayor, Dr. Smith Joseph, continues to host quarterly business luncheons.
