SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR MAYOR SMITH JOSEPH’S ANNUAL BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH AND RESOU

North Miami, FL – 7/9/2018

As the new school year quickly approaches, the city of North Miami is accepting donated school supplies for distribution to local children during the 8th Annual Back-to-School Bash and Resource Fair, hosted by Mayor Smith Joseph, D.O., Pharm.D. This free outreach event will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Joe Celestin Center, located at 1525 NW 135th Street, North Miami.

Since its launch in 2011, thousands of backpacks filled with supplies have been donated to local children. This initiative continues to grow under Mayor Joseph’s leadership and through continued support by local residents, businesses and charitable organizations. In addition to backpack donations, the Back-to-School Bash now features music, games, kid-friendly activities and a resource fair showcasing helpful services offered within the community.

Some of the needed school supplies include #2 pencils, calculators, crayons, markers, blunt scissors, pencil boxes, glue sticks, loose leaf paper, folders, notebooks and composition books. Monetary donations are also welcome. All donations must be delivered to North Miami City Hall, 2nd floor lobby, or the North Miami Police Department (NMPD) by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6.   North Miami City Hall is located at 776 NE 125th Street. NMPD is located at 700 NE 124 Street.
