North Miami, FL – 6/13/2018

During a luncheon on Wednesday, June 13, at the Gwen Margolis Center, the City of North Miami honored 20 teens who successfully completed its 2nd Annual Leaders in Training Program (LIT).

Before an audience of peers, City of North Miami elected officials, administration and staff, certificates of completion were presented to local teens graduating from the 10-week college and government career preparatory program.

In 2016, LIT was conceptualized by North Miami’s District 4 Councilman, Alix Desulme. College Readiness Access and Motivational Services, Inc. (CRAMS) facilitated weekly lectures focused on workplace etiquette, professional attire, resume writing, career interest identification and job skills assessing. Presentations by North Miami’s elected officials and City administrators, introduced LIT Program participants to the inner-workings and leadership structure of their local government.

The program serves as a pipeline and pre-requisite for North Miami residents to transition into paid positions through the City’s signature Youth Opportunity Board (YOB) Summer Internship Program. Sixteen 2018 LIT Program Graduates will transition into North Miami’s YOB Internship Program this year. The YOB Internship program is open to residents in grades 9 – 12.
