COUNCILMAN ALIX DESULME ELECTED VICE CHAIR OF THE NATIONAL HAITIAN AMERICAN ELECTED OFFICIALS NETWOR

North Miami, FL – 2/1/2018

On Saturday, Jan. 27th, the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON) unanimously voted North Miami Councilman Alix Desulme to serve on the 2018 Board of Directors. As Vice-Chair of the Board, Desulme will play a key role in shaping NHAEON’s mission which includes supporting legislation and policies and strengthening relations between the United States and the Republic of Haiti.   

“I am truly honored and humble to have been selected by my peers to serve on this prestigious board”, said Desulme. “I hope to bring my wealth of knowledge and international experience to further the goals and mission of NHAEON.”   

NHAEON is a non-partisan coalition of elected and appointed government officials of Haitian decent, including judges, senators, state representatives, county commissioners and city council persons. These members collaborate to work in Haitian communities nationally and to address issues of concern to Haiti. The collective goal is to renew the national and local focus on key legislative, diplomatic, security, economic and human rights issues.   

The leadership of this year’s board of directors will consist of Chairwoman Victoria P. Siplin, County Commissioner, Orange County, FL; Secretary Kimberly Jean-Pierre, State Assemblywoman Suffolk County, NY; Treasurer Christina Romelus, City Commissioner, Boynton Beach, FL; Sergeant At-Arms Eunice D. Zeigler, City Council, Member at Large, Metheun, MA; Historian Charnette Frederic, City Council Member at Large, Irvington, NJ; and Immediate Past Chairman Joseph Champagne, Former Mayor of South Toms River, NJ.
