North Miami Councilman Philippe Bien-Aime, invites the community to the 4th Annual Shooting for Awareness Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 28. At this free event, local high school girl’s basketball teams from Miami-Dade and Broward counties promote breast cancer awareness, while showing off their hoops skills. This year’s competing teams include North Miami Senior High School, Miami Edison Senior High School, Alonzo & Tracy Mourning Senior High, Miami Springs Senior High School, Hialeah Senior High School, Cypress Bay High School, Mater Academy High School, Monsignor Edward Pace High School, South Plantation High School and Coral Springs High School. The guest speaker will be breast cancer survivor Djenane Gourgue, who also serves as a Mission Committee Chairperson for Susan G. Komen South Florida.
