North Miami, FL – 7/12/2017

The city of North Miami is now accepting donated school supplies for distribution to local children during the 7th Annual Back-to-School Bash and Resource Fair, hosted by Mayor Smith Joseph, D.O., Pharm.D. This free outreach event will take place Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Joe Celestin Center, located at 1525 NW 135th Street, North Miami.

Since its inception in 2011, thousands of backpacks filled with supplies have been donated to local children. This initiative continues to grow under Mayor Joseph’s leadership and through continued support by local residents, business and charitable organizations.

Some of the needed school supplies include #2 pencils, calculators, crayons, markers, blunt scissors, pencil boxes, rulers, glue sticks, loose leaf paper, wide-ruled paper and composition books. Monetary donations are also welcome. All donations must be delivered to North Miami City Hall by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 7.

In addition to backpack donations, Back-to-School Bash also features music, games, kid-friendly activities and a resource fair showcasing services offered within the community.
