North Miami, FL – 4/18/2017

Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day. The city of North Miami is celebrating with both an Earth Day Cleanup and Green Awareness Fair hosted by Councilwoman Carol F. Keys, Esq. The city of North Miami invites the community for a fun-packed day of making the City a greener place to live, work and play.

Volunteers are needed for the Earth Day Cleanup. Tasks for volunteers include tidying public spaces and gardening. The community cleanup projects will take place at Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park, located at 1725 NE 135 Street, Claude Pepper Park, at 1255 NW 135 Street, and Clyde Judson Community Center, at 12100 NW 16 Avenue from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers may pre-register on-line.

Also, citizens may join Councilwoman Keys in the MOCA Plaza, located at 770 NE 125 ST from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the Green Awareness Fair and Recycling Event. This event features environmentally conscious businesses and organizations. It will include free paper shredding, electronic waste disposal services and green awareness demonstrations. This event is a great opportunity to learn more about energy efficiency, environmental conservation, sustainable landscaping and alternative energy resources. The Community Planning and Development Department will give away fruit trees, flowering trees and an array of eco-friendly products on a first-come, first-served basis.
