North Miami, FL – 4/4/2017

Beginning April 7, the city of North Miami, will feature an illuminated display of its sculpture honoring the local Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) community, in support of the annual Gay Pride Week Celebration in the neighboring city of Miami Beach.

Unveiled in March 2017, the art piece, called Untitled (forms from MEDIAPRO HD ULTIMATE F/X 18 color makeup palette), is the only sculpture in Miami-Dade County paying tribute to local pioneers of South Florida’s LGBTQ community. It is located in North Miami’s Elaine Gordon Enchanted Forest Park.

April 7-9, park hours will be temporarily extended to 9 p.m. For the duration of this 3-night event, guests may drive into the park’s main entry gate. Guests seeking to photograph the sculpture may park in the east lot for up to five minutes before exiting.

To honor key contributors to the local LGBTQ community, this sculpture was designed by artist, Alan Gutierrez of Miami. It features 18 poles, each representing the standard make-up hues used for special effects on stage and in film.  The piece was commissioned through North Miami's Art in Public Places program.
