The city of North Miami’s Parks and Recreation Department is kicking off a new series of Movies on The Lawn on Friday, March 18th at Keystone Park – Bobby Hamer Field. Moviegoers will adore Stuart, Kevin and Bob in Illumination Entertainment’s animated film Minions.  Bring out the entire family and don’t forget your blankets, lawn chairs and well-behaved, leashed dogs. Admission to the event is free and popcorn will be provided at no extra cost.  Concessions, including hot-dogs, candy and beverages will be available for purchase.

Councilman Scott Galvin of District 1 secured $10,000 from the City’s general fund revenues to purchase the inflatable, weather resistant ProHD 16′ x 9′ Outdoor Movie Screen Theater System equipped with high definition technology. "Movies on the Lawn will be a lot of fun!  I'm looking forward to seeing this event become a mainstay of North Miami's Parks," said Councilman Galvin. The Movies On The Lawn experience allows members of the community to come together and relax while meeting fellow movie lovers and neighbors in the city of North Miami. Movie screenings are free and will take place every other month at one of the various parks throughout the City.

In case of inclement weather, announcements regarding cancellation will be posted on the City’s website and Facebook page. Future dates include May 20, 2016 at Claude Pepper Park, July 15, 2016 at Griffing Park, and September 16, 2016 at Keystone Park-Bobby Hamer Field. Movies will be announced one month before each showing. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 305-895-9840 or visit
