In celebration of Black History Month, the city of North Miami presents Hallowed Grounds: Site of African American Memories. This year’s Black History Month national theme pays homage to historical places and memorials that are of significance to the history and existence of the African-American experience in the United States. The community is invited to view Black History Art Exhibitions provided by the African-American Research Library on display at the following locations: North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132 Street, North Miami, FL and North Miami City Hall, 2nd Floor, 776 NE 125 Street, North Miami, FL.   

The signature event, Music in the Plaza, will feature live entertainment by award-winning American R&B group Jagged Edge in an outdoor concert setting in North Miami on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. The event will also include performances by CeCe Peniston and Chubb Rock, vendors selling traditional African-American artifacts, and a spirited ambiance ensuring a good time for all. All of the events are free and open to the public

Unveiling of the 2016 United States Postal Stamp of preacher, activist, and civic leader Richard Allen (1760-1831).   

Children’s Dance Performance

Enjoy musical performances of Hip-Hop, African Dance and Urban Ballet by Fatima J’s Children African Dance Company.    

Jazz at MOCA
Friday, February 26, 2016 | 8:00 pm MOCA Plaza 
Singer-songwriter Leesa Richards is a storyteller with a soulful voice offering a soundtrack to the narratives of life.
