NORTH MIAMI TO RE-OPEN THE DOORS OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY AFTER $1.5 MILLION IN RENOVATIONS

North Miami, FL – 11/3/2015

The city of North Miami proudly announces the Grand Re-Opening of the newly renovated North Miami Public Library on Thursday, November 5, 2015. The Library, located at 835 NE 132 Street in North Miami is one of the oldest public buildings in the City. The Biscayne Park Woman's Club established the Library in City Hall in 1932. E. May Avil, whom the Library is named after, served 37 years as City Clerk and oversaw the Library's operation in North Miami.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The event will include remarks by Mayor Smith Joseph, D.O. Pharm.D. and Interim City Manager Arthur H. Sorey, III, special performances, guided tours, and a reception immediately following the program. The Grand Re-Opening Family Night at 6:00 p.m. is open to the public and will feature special performances by Page Turner Adventures, musical presentations and refreshments.    

The Library renovation was a $1.5 million dollar project of which $1,000,000 was allocated from the City’s Progress 2013 fund along with a $500,000 Library Construction grant from the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services.
