North Miami, FL – 10/9/2015

Hosted by Councilman Alix Desulme, in partnership with Chairman Jean Monestime

Unemployment is a looming obstacle in raising the quality of life throughout communities. With a 17% unemployment rate, an average greater than that of the county, state and nation, the city of North Miami is not immune to the challenge. As a solution to tackle the issue of unemployment head-on, Councilman Alix Desulme created the District 4/”D4 Back to Work” Job Initiative. Originally intended to support residents of District 4, the effort has since expanded citywide as the need became apparent.

On Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Councilman Desulme, in partnership with Miami Dade County Chairman Jean Monestime, will host the first of two community events as part of his initiative at the Joe Celestin Center, located at 1525 NW 135 Street, North Miami, FL 33167. The job initiative resource event is open to unemployed residents of North Miami. Staff and volunteers will assist attendees in registering information to be utilized for the purpose of securing skill-specific opportunities with employers at a follow up event, scheduled for later in the year. Vendors will also be on-hand to provide additional support to include career training, resume writing and interviewing skills.
