Mayor Smith Joseph will hold a press conference regarding the removal of traffic light cameras from the city of North Miami. The press conference will take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in front of the North Miami Police Department located at 700 NE 124th Street, North Miami, Florida 33161 at 10:45 a.m. 

Mayor Joseph sponsored the resolution at a regular meeting of the City Council held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 where the legislation passed with a majority vote. “You elected me to look out for the best interests of the City, as well as the best interests of the residents.  We cannot balance the City’s budget on the backs of our residents.  We need more police on the streets, not more red light cameras. This is a new day in North Miami.” – Dr. Smith Joseph, Mayor of North Miami. 

Effective, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 12:01 a.m., no more citations will be issued for red light camera violations in North Miami.

Dr. Smith Joseph is a licensed practicing physician and has managed a successful medical practice in the city of North Miami for the past 14 years. Dr. Joseph’s leadership prowess has been in providing community service and opportunity for his constituents.  He provides free annual check-ups for the elderly, internship opportunities for the youth, and served on several boards in North Miami while managing his medical clinic, Universal Medical Centre.  Dr. Joseph organized and led a march for Trayvon Martin in Miami-Dade County in March 2012, spearheaded earthquake relief efforts in Haiti in 2010 and has participated in multiple medical missions in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  

 Dr. Joseph earned his associate degree from Miami Dade College and later earned a doctorate in pharmacy from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). Dr. Joseph is a proud Rattler.  Thereafter, Dr. Joseph earned a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital/Morehouse School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Joseph speaks four (4) languages fluently: English, French, Spanish and Creole.  He has received many awards and distinguished recognition, including being inducted into the Miami Dade College Hall of Fame in 2009, Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges, and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Dr. Joseph is married to practicing attorney, Patricia SaintVil-Joseph and has three beautiful children.
