FAMILY IS THE FOCUS AT THE ANNUAL FACT FESTIVAL

Free Community Event on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at
Cagni Park, 13498 NE 8 Avenue, North Miami 33161



In an effort to unite the community, with a focus on crime prevention and improving the quality of life issues, the North Miami Police Department joins forces with The Children’s Trust and the Police Athletic League of North Miami to present the Family and Community Together “FACT” Festival.  The Children's Trust is committed to funding programs that offer the highest quality services possible, with the goal of implementing best practices and improving the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade. The mission of the FACT Festival is to make the City of North Miami a safer place to live, work and play. The event is designed to educate the public about a variety of timely community issues and provide citizens with information about the many social services and resources offered by local community-based organizations and agencies, including the North Miami Police Department. This free event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. 

Opening ceremonies will begin at 11:15 a.m. with Ms. Crystal Chanel and Mr. Paul Antoine “Mr. Jean” as the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies.   

Exhibitors include: Concerned African Women, Boys & Girls Clubs, Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami, Gang Alternative, Sant La, Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Urgent Inc., Greater Miami Service Corps, Greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce; City of North Miami; HOPE, Inc., Miami Dade College, SER Jobs for Progress; and Youth of Valor Empowerment (Y.O.V.E.), among many others.   

Live demonstrations by: Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, North Miami Police SWAT, North Miami Police K-9 unit, 9-1-1 Simulator, Drug education and Gang awareness education.  

Live Performances by:  Haitian Cultural Dance and Hip-Hop Performance groups, a guest storyteller, and popular Haitian Rara band, Rara Lakay. 

The event also features giveaways, including free food; raffle prizes for bikes, laptops and more; children’s activities including a storyteller, bounce house, obstacle course; and a slam dunk competition.  For more information, please contact Maria D’Ovidio 305-891-0294, ext. 23100.
