North Miami, FL – 8/19/2014

Back in May, The Call for Ideas competition was created to solicit landscape and architectural design ideas from students for civic spaces in the North Miami downtown area to support the City’s Downtown Revitalization efforts. The city of North Miami is proud to present the Certificate of Excellence to Camilo Lopez from Florida Atlantic University. Camilo won the civic space competition and has been offered an internship with the Corradino Group. Camilo’s eye catching design included proposals with innovative ideas to transform several civic spaces throughout the City’s downtown. His designs showed hard work and ingenuity.

The Call for Ideas competition solicited university students in Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Design and Architectural Design from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Florida International University (FIU), and University of Miami (UM) to participate. Recognized as well with honorable mentions and presented with Certificates of Recognition for their designs were Brad Benmoshé from Florida Atlantic University who incorporated the revitalization of a corridor and Shanae Clark, also from Florida Atlantic University, who’s design incorporates artistic sculptural ideas.

The competition served as a free resource for design ideas to support the City’s Downtown Revitalization efforts currently underway. The competition allowed students an opportunity to get real world experience and for the City of North Miami’s to establish a better relationship with major universities in South Florida.  Click here to view the winning design.
