Garbage Pickup

The City of North Miami provides garbage pickup twice a week to residential properties - Mondays and Thursdays, or Tuesdays and Fridays. Residents are encouraged to put the containers out at the street curb the night before after 7:00 PM to avoid missing the pickup. For information on pickup dates or additional information, call the Sanitation Division at 305.895.9870.

Bulk Trash Pickup

General bulk trash pickup is scheduled weekly and consists of garden cuttings, tree limbs, and household trash (such as wood boards without nails) all of which must be less than five (5) feet in length. Furniture and appliances, such as refrigerators or stoves are also picked up. Sanitation workers do not pick up concrete, building materials, rocks or scrap iron. For specific dates and pickup areas, call the Sanitation Division at 305.895.9870. There will be a charge of $15.00 for every cubic yard exceeding 6 cubic yards.

To dispose of household chemicals, oils, batteries and other household hazardous waste materials please call Miami-Dade County at 305.597.1768.

Commercial and Multi-Family Dumpsters

Recycling Pickup
North Miami Households to earn rewards for recycling
For your convenience, the City of North Miami has a curbside recycling program.

Earn rewards for recycling? It’s true. North Miami residents will see their recycling turn to "points" by participating in the RecycleBank rewards-based recycling program. The City has partnered with RecycleBank, to bring residents a unique program that credits households with points that are valid for redemption at various local and national retail partners. The program is available to all single family homes in North Miami that have curbside recycling service.

Each household is being issued a new 95-gallon recycling cart, which is the same size as the current garbage cart. With the new single-stream recycling plant in Miami-Dade County, residents are now able to recycle more items than in the past. Items such as magazines, junk mail and phone books, will be accepted along with the traditionally recycled plastics, newspaper and glass (see list of items below). The goal is to reduce the amount of waste in our households by recycling more.

Each household will earn points with every curbside recycling service by North Miami’s Sanitation Division. The amount of recycling materials are easily measured and then converted into RecycleBank Points that can be used at hundreds of local and national rewards partners. RecycleBank is simple to implement, market-driven, and proven to work; saving municipalities money and rewarding families for their environmental stewardship. North Miami is the first city in the Southeastern United States to become a RecycleBank partner.

How to register
North Miami households that receive curbside recycling service should have already received an activation mailer from RecycleBank. You must activate your account, either online or by phone, in order to start earning reward points. If you have not received your mailer with the activation instructions, please call RecycleBank at 1-888-727-2978.

Businesses can still register as reward partners
If your business is interested in being a reward partner in North Miami’s RecycleBank program, please contact Sandra Newfield, Community Partnership Representative at RecycleBank at snewfield@recyclebank.com
