The Housing Division is to assist the City of North Miami in creating a viable urban community by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expanding opportunities, principally for very low, low and moderate-income persons/families. The division administers local, state and federal funds designated for housing and community development identify housing and community development needs within the City, work with "not for profit" organizations to expand opportunities and quality of life for low and moderate income residents, plan, development and implement programs and activities to meet identified needs in housing and community development, such as homeownership, single-family and rental rehabilitation, public facilities and improvements.

    STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (SHIP) ANNUAL REPORT – FY 2014-2015
    The City of North Miami, as required under the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, has prepared Annual Report for activities accomplished during Fiscal Year 2014-2015. Members of the public are welcome to provide oral or written comments on the matter. The Annual Reports will be available for review and comment from September 6, 2017, until September 13, 2017, at the Community Planning & Development Department, 12400 NE 8th Avenue between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

    COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT STATE HOUSING INITIATIVE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (SHIP)
    The Community Planning and Development Department (CP&D) of the City of North Miami hereby notifies the public of the availability of funding for its FY 2017-2018 State funded Affordable Housing Programs. Rehabilitation funding will be made available to owners of single family residential units in need of repair who meet the program’s income and occupancy guidelines. The maximum assistance is up to $25,000.00 per unit. Open registration for the FY 2017-2018 State funded housing programs will begin on September 1, 2017 through October 31st, 2017 or until enough applicants are received for the current fiscal year allocation.

    AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAMS - COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) - HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (HOME)
    The Community Planning and Development Department (CP&D) of the City of North Miami hereby notifies the public of the availability of funding for its 2017-18 Federally funded Affordable Housing Programs. Open registration for the FY 2017-2018 housing programs will begin on September 1, 2017 to October 31, 2017. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-qualified, first-served basis, pending funding availability. Priority given to the elderly and disabled.

    A 30-day public comment period was started on July 10th, 2017 for the City of North Miami’s proposed FY 2017-2018 Annual Action Plan regarding funding to be received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This plan is required by HUD in order for the City to receive federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program funds. The allocation and distribution of grant funds at that time was based on an estimate of CDBG and HOME funds since HUD had not informed the City of their grant amounts. Recently HUD informed the City f the allocation that it will receive.
