Parks & Recreation - Trees, Landscaping &
Maintenance
Parks Operations Center

The City of North Miami Parks and Recreation Department maintains
more then 18,000 trees City wide, 15,000 of them being swale or median
trees. These trees are important to our environment and are a valuable
City asset of over $10,000,000. If a resident needs swale trees in
front of their house trimmed, they can call the Parks Operation Center
at 305.891.9334 and the City will evaluate the tree and trim if
necessary. Please note that only City personnel are permitted to trim
swale trees. If a resident would like to remove a tree from their
property, they should apply for a tree removal permit at the Building
and Zoning Department located adjacent to City Hall. For residents
who would like a tree planted in the swale in front of their house,
the City has a Tree Match Program where the Resident pays half ($40) towards
the purchase of a tree to be planted by the resident.
Landscaping
Landscaping plays a very important role in the beatification of our
City. The Parks and Recreation Department takes a great deal of pride
in keeping the parks, facilities and rights-of-ways well maintained
and landscaped throughout the City. Residents can help us in this
endeavor by calling 305.891.9334 if they see any areas that need
attention or for sprinklers that may be running too long.
