Children's Holiday Parties

Civic Events

Patriotism is very important and the City of North Miami takes the memory of this country’s heroes very seriously. Each Memorial and Veterans Day there is a ceremony to honor our fallen heroes’ memories and to teach the youth of today the important of freedom, patriotism and America.

  • Memorial & Veterans Day Ceremonies
Each ceremony is held on the legally observed date and held at the Griffing Park at 12220 Griffing Blvd. These events are free to the public and a great lesson in history for today’s youth. A formal program and presentation of colors is done, shots are fired by the North Miami Police Honor Guard and a beautiful patriotic medley is sung. The ceremony begins promptly at 10:00 AM and is followed by a light lunch to those in attendance.

  • For 32 years the parade has traveled down NE 125th Street growing larger with more high school bands, local bands and more professional entertainment and more crowds to watch this spectacular event! Merging on NE 4th Avenue, the parade travels east on 125th street through NE 12th Avenue where it ends. Tri-Lingual Sound booths are set up on NE 6th and 10th Avenues with the main sound stage and official parade emcees being located at NE 8th Avenues. Everyone looks forward to passing the official emcees as they discuss each group passing and the groups get a chance to be videotaped, a tape which is aired on the local cable network channel 77 in December.

Want to be in the Parade?
Call Andrea A. Ramos, Community events coordinator at 305.895.9840, extension 12227 in the beginning of August and an OFFICIAL PARADE ENTRY APPLICATION will be mailed or faxed to you!
