Mission Statement
North Miami Public Library’s mission is to serve the entirety of North Miami’s diverse community through the provision of appropriate collections, technology and services in an atmosphere that is comfortable, relaxing, nurturing and accessible. The Library and its knowledgeable, skilled, friendly and helpful Staff are committed to fostering independent lifelong learning, personal growth and development, intellectual stimulation, cultural enrichment and a love of reading.

  • Reciprocal Borrowing
Reciprocal Borrowing is a shared borrowing program participated in by North Miami Public Library, Hialeah Public Library, North Miami Beach Public Library and the Miami-Dade Public Library System.

How Reciprocal Borrowing works: Each Library will make available to any patron of another Library, free of charge, all materials that circulate to the Library’s own patrons. If you hold a current Library Card for the North Miami Public Library, and the book/video/CD/DVD, etc. that you need is not part of its collection, Library Staff will attempt to locate the item at one of the other Libraries participating in the Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement. Once the item is located, it will be held aside for you and you can go to that Library and check out that item with all of the privileges that the Library’s own patrons have. You are, of course, subject to the rules and fine policies of the lending Library.
  • Story Online: an exciting on-line streaming video program (with audio and visual) featuring professional actors reading children's books aloud. Each of the books on this site offers accompanying lesson plans and activity guides.
  • Stars of the Stacks
Volunteers are being sought to adopt a section of books and come in regularly to put them in perfect order.
