What do I need to do in order to be placed on the City Council
agenda?
a) The City Council agenda is prepared by the City Manager's Office
one week prior to the Council meeting. If you wish to be placed
on the agenda, you must submit a letter to the City Manager requesting
to be placed on a particular agenda. The letter must reach our office
(either via regular mail, facsimile or hand delivered), no later
than the Tuesday preceding the Council meeting at 12:00 Noon. Your
letter should specify the meeting you wish to be present at, as
well as the topic you wish to discuss. Upon receipt of your letter,
the City Manager will review the request, and if placed on the agenda,
you will receive a copy of the agenda (in the mail) highlighting
your placement. City Council agendas are finalized on the Thursday
prior to each meeting.
b) On the fourth Tuesday of every month, there is a section on
the agenda entitled "CITIZENS' FORUM". Under this section
anyone can address the City Council, however, the individual is
limited to speak for only three (3) minutes.
How can I obtain a copy of the City Council agenda?
The City Council agenda is finalized on the Thursday preceding
the Council meeting by 12:00 Noon. You may obtain a copy from the
City Clerk's Office, located on the first floor of City Hall, you
may contact the North Miami INFO line at (305) 891-4636, extension
1250, or by logging onto our website.
Who can give me information/results on a particular item that
was heard before the City Council?
The City Clerk's Office is responsible for recording minutes of
all City Council meetings. Following a Council meeting, you may
contact the Clerk's Office for information on a particular item
on the Council agenda.
When are the City Council meetings aired on the local access
channel (North Miami Progress TV Channel 77)?
City Council meetings are aired live the day of the meeting on
Channel 77. They are also rebroadcasted the following Wednesday,
Thursday, Sunday and Monday at 7:00 p.m.
Who should I speak to regarding a concern I have with the City?
The City of North Miami operates under a Council-Manager form of
government. The City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the
City. Each department is headed by a director, appointed by the
City Manager, who oversees the functions of the department under
the direct supervision of the City Manager. Once the concern is
identified, you should discuss the matter with that particular Department
Director (i.e. problem with your utility bill - you will be asked
to speak to the Finance Director). If the matter is not resolved
at that level, you should contact the City Manager.
