2015 - BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Brought to you by the 2015 North Miami Black History Month Committee

All entries will be judged on creativity, artistic merit, and best representation of the theme PROUD AND FREE TO BE ME within the context of the 2015 Black History Month theme: A Century of Black Life, History, and Culture: 1915-2015.

RULES:
  • The contest is open to Elementary, Middle , and High School students. Contestants must be North Miami Residents, or attend a North Miami Public or private school.
  • Students may enter one piece only
  • All participants must have a library card from the North Miami Public Library (or apply for a card in order to enter) or present their own City's/County Library card
  • All entries must be based on the theme, PROUD AND FREE TO BE ME, (see above for details)

GUIDELINES FOR THE ART:

  • Artwork must be a 2D original piece, theme-based, on paper, matted, dry and no larger than 18'x24'
  • Student name, grade, and all other information must be clearly printed on Official Entry Form (see below) and attached to the back of the artwork

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2015, 7:30 P.M.

Please hand deliver all entries to the North Miami Public Library Annex, 835 NE 132 Street, North Miami, FL 33161 and present (or apply for) your library card.

AWARDS:

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards for each age division, awards are gift cards in the following amounts: 1st place - $100, 2nd place - $50, 3rd place - $25. Winners will be notified by telephone. ALL PARTICIPANTS AND WINNERS will be recognized at the Black History Month Celebration: MOONLIGHT TALES Wednesday, February 26, 6:30 p.m. at MOCA Plaza, 770 NE 125 Street
