Co-sponsored by the Oscar Thomas Foundation and the Friends of the North Miami Public Library.  

The theme of this year’s contest will be Heroes in Our Communities.  Students will write about someone they would consider a “LOCAL HERO.”  This person can be a community leader, a family member, or a friend.

RULES
  1. Students may enter art or essay (one category only)
  2. The art contest is open to students in 6th - 12th grade.
  3. The essay contest is open to students in 4th - 12th grade.
  4. Art may be 2D or 3D, no larger than 11” by 17”
  5. No photographs allowed with the essay.
  6. Essays must be original, between 300-500 words, typed, double spaced on (8½” by 11”) paper.
  7. All participants MUST have a public library card.
  8. All entries MUST be accompanied by an official entry form.
Application deadline:  Submissions accepted until Friday, February 17 at 5:00 p.m. (All art and essays must be delivered to the North Miami Public Library)
Awards Ceremony:  Thursday, February 23rd at 6:00 p.m.
